Town and Country
Town & Country motifs were my first serious studies when I started working in pottery. I was exploring colour and drawing while making the shift from two-dimensional art to three-dimensional clay works. While I am drawn to the dramatic, it is comedy that eventually wins over my main narratives. In this series, for instance, cow’s coats are hung on the wash line, very naughty goats and other images of eccentric farm life are featured in a rural landscape which decorate hand-built, functional tableware.
